Ms. J. Lara Juanillo is the founder and CEO of J. Madison-Bentley. She is a health insurance expert with more than 20 years experience in all areas of insurance operations. She was also involved in building three successful start-up HMO and insurance companies in California and Nevada.

Ms. Juanillo has spent more than 15 years developing and pricing small and large group health insurance coverages. She has held various senior underwriting positions with large insurance companies such as CIGNA Healthcare, Blue Cross (Wellpoint), CareAmerica (Now Blue Shield), and United Health Care. Prior to her transition to the benefit consulting field, Ms. Juanillo was Director of Underwriting, Pacific Region, for United Healthcare.

As Benefits Pricing Consultant, Ms. Juanillo represented national Fortune 500 corporations such as American Airlines, Union Pacific Railroad, Lucent Technologies, Reed Elsevier, Owens Corning, Darden Restaurants, Eaton Corp., Quaker Oats and others in premium rate negotiations with insurance companies.  Each year, she reviews about 200-300 rating exhibits and negotiates with more than 200 insurance carriers nationwide.   

Ms. Juanillo has saved clients more than $18 Million in healthcare premiums through rate negotiations. She has also supported human resource managers, benefits managers, union representatives, brokers, and consultants in successful rate negotiations with insurance companies.   In 2000, Ms. Juanillo was instrumental in developing the first internet reverse auction technology in procurement of healthcare benefits for a Fortune 500 corporation with over 30,000 members. 

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Management Program from Pepperdine University. She is a Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) with the Health Insurance Association of America and a Professional at the Academy of Health Care Management (PAHM). Ms. Juanillo is also completing her Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Fellow, Academy of Healthcare Management (FAHM) professional designations.

Ms. Juanillo is the author of an upcoming new book titled "Health Insurance Pricing Intelligence".  The book explores the secrets of reducing health insurance premiums before or without cutting benefits and serves as a practical guide for employers, brokers, and consultants.
